CARE FOR YOUR NEW ASPHALT DRIVEWAY
Thank you for choosing All State Paving to install your new asphalt driveway. It is our goal to continue to provide you with service and answer any questions that may arise. Your new driveway is an investment to your property and with proper care and maintenance will provide the curb appeal your home deserves.
- STAY OFF – Foot traffic is permitted on your new asphalt driveway approx 2-4 hours after asphalt is placed and has time to cool. Keep in mind it is a petroleum based product so its still best practice to remove shoes when walking in your home for the first few days. KEEP VEHICLES OFF new driveway for 48-72 hrs while the asphalt cools to a point to allow parkin g and traffic.
- TIRE MARKS – Asphalt Cures at different rates of time due to factors such as temperature, exposure to sun and shade conditions, rainfall, and variances in material design. Typically initial cure time is 45-60 days but keep in mind new asphalt can remain pliable for up to 12 months. It is important to not make sharp turns on asphalt while vehicle is not in motion or while performing turnabouts. If possible avoid parking in the same area of the driveway continuously. Tire marks are however nothing to be OVERLY ALARMED over they should smooth themself out with continued traffic.
- DAMAGE CONCERNS – Avoid spilling any chemicals on driveway such as gas, oil, bleach, or degreasers. Chemicals like this can erode the asphalt cement that binds the material together. If a spill occurs do your best to rinse the area immediately and apply an absorbent ( kitty litter, oil dry, sand). While your driveway cures avoid large delivery trucks such as pool or oil trucks to drive on new asphalt. If parking a trailer on the driveway place a piece of plywood under jack stands to avoid depressions they might cause. Small things such as bicycle kickstands or BBQ grills can also cause damage as the weight is concentrated in one area. Avoid driving too close to the edge of the driveway as vehicle weight can crack the side of driveway if not properly supported with soil/grass line Please Dont Hesitate to call with any concerns.
- VEGETATION GROWTH – We take necessary precautions and install pavement at depth that in most cases inhibit vegetation growth. But the asphalt has voids in the surface as its a natural stone product or has spacing where asphalt joins another surface such as concrete walkways or against block surfaces. Immediately treat any noticed growth with an Herbicide or Weed Control Chemical. Contact us with anything excessive or out of the ordinary and we can inspect and or treat.
- SEALCOATING – It is recommended your new driveway is sealed within the first 2 years of installation. All State Paving provides this service at an additional cost. Sealcoating is not Required but is considered good
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE to help protect the asphalt and possibly extend the lifespan of the material.
